Could handicrafts help to inspire the next generation of designers?

I have noticed something lately around town (town being Amsterdam); handicraft shops seem to be springing up all over the place, I cycled past two of them last week. One of them is situated nearby to where I live. I decided to have a look around this local creatieve winkel as it is called in Dutch. The colourful and creatively dressed shop window looked very inviting too.

Exhibiting Art; how long have we been doing this?

A couple of weeks ago I visited Huis Marseille in Amsterdam. This museum exhibits contemporary, international photography of the highest standard. As well as being located on the Keizersgracht canal in a 17th century canal house it also has a photo library and a garden – so absolutely worth a visit!
